OK, you made it through the 40 day adventure. Remember how we started. Three things.
1. We were to make a list of three things you’d change about your life if you knew you only had 40 days to live. What were they?
2. Describe how you would like your life to be different at the end of the 40 days. Well?
3. Tell at least one other person—friend, family member, or coworker—that you’re taking this challenge. When are you going to schedule that meeting?
God works in every circumstance for those that are His . We see good or bad but God sees opportunity in either.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28
So, if God works good in everything for those who follow Him, then why do we suffer? We are never closer to God then when we suffer. Yes, we may get mad at Him during loss or unjust treatment but ultimately we end up with nowhere else to go.
Isn’t that how God designed the system. Turn to God in a deeper and more significant way.
Jesus thought it was so important to love that He made it a commandment.
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. – John 15:12
Jesus commands us to give that same kind of unchanging, self-sacrificing love He gave us to others. We can love like Him or He wouldn’t command us to. He’s not a cruel prankster, giving His followers a command that He won’t give them the ability to carry out. No. We can love like Jesus because He lives in us by His Spirit.
Today, love someone the way Christ loved you. Looking past the sin, their harshness, even their rejection of the gospel to love them. If you do, you’ll be a little close to Christ then when you started the day.
Let love be your highest goal! – 1 Corinthians 14:1
As people face their last thirty days it all suddenly becomes crystal clear. Like the morning sun breaking through a cloud bank, they see for the maybe the first time, what’s most important…LOVE. Why wait? If love is the highest goal, the most important thing, we should love now.
About 155,000 people die every day. Crazy huh? As followers of Jesus Christ, why do we look at death the way we do? I’ve been in hospital rooms where people who didn’t know God were terrified and at the bedside of followers of Christ who looked at entering eternity, so differently. Jesus said not to be troubled when we think about dying. But how about not being troubled when we think about living. Paul put it this way, “to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Turn this day into a day of gain.
